            Born 26 May 1884 in Athens, Wisconsin, USA, as Karl Winninger. 
            Died 27 January 1969 in Palm Springs, California, USA. 
            Married actress Blanche Ring, 5 November 1912; divorced, 10 August 1951. 
						Married actress Gertrude Walker, 10 August 1951; until Charles’ death, 27 January 1969. 
            Charles Winninger was born into a show business family, whose act was known as the Winninger Family Concert Company. After years of stage work, Winninger made a few appearances in comedy shorts around 1915-1916 and made a handful of appearances in feature films of the 1920s. The stage-centric Winninger is most-associated with the role of Cap’n Andy in the 1927 Broadway production of Show Boat. 
            The bulk of Winninger’s film work occurred in the golden era of film.
